I’ve always looked at the Medal of Honor series and the Call of Duty series as rivals. Of course even though first installment of the Medal of Honor series released way before the first Call of Duty, they’ve always seemed to battle over who had the better World War II shooter. Infinity Ward took a big leap in the Call of Duty franchise by switching the theme to Modern Warfare back in 2007. And what happened after that? Call of Duty received countless positive reviews, many Game of The Year awards, and after spending several weeks as the top played Xbox Live game, a lot of people dubbed the the official Halo Killer. Why doesn’t EA try and bring the Medal of Honor series to Modern Warfare?

The Medal of Honor series has always been respected, although EA has seemed to forgotten about the series. The most recent release, Medal of Honor: Airborne, received a Meta Critic score of 78. And that’s just the PC version. The PS3 version had a ranking of 75, and the 360 version scored the lowest with a 73. Now even though these are not bad scores, we know that EA can do much better with the Medal of Honor franchise, and it looks like a franchise reboot is needed. What could help bring the Medal of Honor series back to it’s prime?…

Go Modern. There simply is a lack in good modern day shooters. Sure there are good games that take place in the future, like Killzone 2, Halo 3, Gears of War 2. And some games take place in the past, but in a completely alternate universe, such as Resistance and Resistance 2. There aren’t enough good modern war FPS games. Ubisoft tried bringing the infamous free PC game America’s Army to the 360, but that game ended up being so terrible it made me laugh more then Dane Cook’s stand up. By the way, guess who’s laughing at all of us as he play’s Modern Warfare 2?

Bringing Medal of Honor to a modern day setting would bring great competition to the Call of Duty franchise, and if done right, could be a potential hit title from EA. Look at all the things that happen to Infinity Ward after they went to a modern day setting. The same thing could happen to EA.

I’m pretty sure they planned on doing a modern game a few months ago called “MoH: Anaconda” based on a mission in Afghanistan in 2002/2003

Well then that renders this article pointless and stupid. Could you toss me a link?
